The following group is created based on YDNA matches. Sometimes trees are incorrect, and sometimes the results of DNA show that believing a particular tree is yours leads to a different direction
than you originally thought. If you see an error in any tree, you are encouraged to send in corrections, sources, etc or post about it on the forum. These lines represent people's research. What the Smith DNA Project attempts to do in those cases is, with sources or reasoning, get the people together in a given group to discuss and then come to a consensus about the data for updating or correcting. We do not remove information without the people who have the trees,
if possible, being aware through a process
so they can confirm or not, or describe the issue if there is a conflict that cannot be easily resolved. We also cannot know,
nor have unlimited time to look for, places on the internet that have additional information. We rely on people whose trees these are,
as project members, and members of this Smith DNA grouping, or interested passersby providing information that will set a new light on members data.
There is a Submit Photo/Document/Source link on every ancestor page, as well
as a Suggest changes and Contact link. Note that all groups and discussion for the Smith DNA Project at FamilyTreeDNA, including for Group GRP-R-M269-17 are located either on FamilyTreeDNA Smith DNA Project at FamilyTreeDNA site or on the Smith DNA Project pages at smithsworldwide.org and not anywhere else, including private sites, wikitree or reddit. |

She married a Jesse Smith, son of Jesse Smith Sr of Franklin Co GA. Her sister, Judith/Judah Nail/Neal married James Smith , brother to Jesse. We seek to sort out what happened to Jesse Smith/Keziah through YDNA and autosomal DNA testing. Thanks to member Monica P for being a huge wealth of information. She has said that Keziah Smith is not a wife of Jesse Smith b 1765 in NC but rather of Jesse Smith Jr, his son First, to recap the group which is GRP-R-M269-17. There are 6 YDNA testers so far, meaning that there are 6 people who are either male Smith descendants or had kin who were male Smiths that tested for them. There is also an autosomal tester where matches are not yet proven and one tree only. 3 of the YDNA testers are from Jesse Smith b 1765 > James Smith One is through Jesse Smith b 1765 >son Benjamin S Smith. One YDNA tester is through William S Smith b 1834 m Sarah Ann Hancock, parents are unknown. And one is tree only meaning there is no comparison DNA to check against a all, and through Jesse Smith b 1765 > Jesse>Nimrod. The autosomal tester who has Jesse Smith through son James as well has not proven a match yet through the project. Finally, there is a YDNA match but the line is unknown-member was adopted. This group is estalished through YDNA and has, as you note, several different branches from Jesse Smith b 1765 So what of Jesse Smith, son of Jesse Smith b 1765 NC and brother to James? Note that the evidence so far that Jesse and James were brothers is due to a deed in 1815 from Jesse and wife Kissa to James Smith as legatees of Joseph Nail, Frankllin Co GA. in 1840 Franklin Co G, there are 4 Jesse Smiths. One, certainily is Jesse Smith b 1765 NC. The others are 30-39, 20-29, and 20-29. In 1840 Harbins, Lumpkin Co GA there is a Jesse Smith ages 50-59, female 40-49 . Is this the same Jesse Smith found in 1850 Killaughs, Lumpkin Co GA with wife Keziah and children Carolina, Joseph, Calloway and Martha? Family then found in Kilough, Dawson Co GA in 1860 (Dawson County from Lumpkin County). Additional notes for possible children: Martha Smith b 1834 d 1869 m William Frederick Johnson (Dawson Co) , Joseph N Smith (named after grandfather?) in 32nd Senatorial District-931st Militia District 33 yard old Exemption: Disabled (1864 Census for Re-Organizing the Georgia Miliria)+ If you are a direct descendant of Jesse and Kiziah/Kissie, and have done autosomal or YDNA, please come join the Smith DNA Project so we can compare. Or, if you are from any of the others in this YDNA proven group, come join. Comment by smithsworldwide 2023-04-29 14:54:48 Want to comment in this group? Go to Smith Discussion Group Forum |
