    "William Smith, Sr. made his Last Will & Testament on Sept. 16, 1742, probated March 5, 1743 in Richmond County, Virginia, and named wife Mary and their three sons, David, William, Jr. and Samuel Smith, Mary was named sole Executrix. Mary was to have the moveable estate during her natural life, and then it was to be equally divided among the three sons. Mary is to have the leased plantation during her life, and if lease still enforce at ther death, lease to David, unless he has land, thence to William.

    The Last Will and Testament was witnessed by John Broughton, John Wade and George Sanders, proven by the latter: Reference: Richmond Co. Va. Will Book E, p 372-373. Inventory was appraised and recorded June 4, 1744. Appraisers were John Lawson, Griffin Dobbyns and John Wade. The Last Wil and Testament was recorded on page 448 and the inventory on page 450 of Richmond County Will Book 5.
