  Notes	********Annals of Meredith Robert Smith was born in England about 1611. He came, as history states, to Boston and later settled in Exeter, where he signed the Exeter Combination. He took the Freeman's Oath, October 7, 1644. He removed to Hampton and died there August 30, 1706. In 1639 he married Susanna . "She was struck by lightening" June 12, 1680, and he remained a widower 26 years. He was a tailor by trade, also farmed land.
