Firstly, there are two Mary Mauldins in this note. Christopher B. Smith's wife and Wade H. Smith's wife. My 3rd GGF was Wade H. Smith and my 3rd GGM was Mary Mauldin(2). Christopher B. Smith begat Charles R. Smith, who begat Wade Smith m. Mary Mauldin(2). Mary Mauldin(2) was Rucker P. Mauldin's daughter, so Wade and Mary(2) were essentially 1st cousins. The easiest assertion I can suppose is that Christopher B. Smith m. Mary Mauldin(1) fathered Rucker via his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Mauldin.
