So, I've been out of town OR ill for the past month, off and on. At one point, about a week or so ago, I was caught up with only 10 items in inbox (hah) but then was under the weather for another week. Today I looked and there are 175 messages there (THAT IS ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY FIVE). Now, most of these appear to be FTDNA sending out updates to haplogroups on what may be either YDNA or autosomal results but these take a bit of time to go through. We like to list them on the branches but need to check each kit in case 1. It is a YDNA tester for a different line who joined the project with a Smith on an autosomal test. That would NOT be a YDNA result that is relevant unless there is coincidentally a match on YDNA for, say, a different surname. 2. There may be people who are Smiths that have not done a YDNA test, either because they don't realize the utter value of this test for male Smiths or some other reason like cost or time or not having a male Smith candidate. If they did an autosomal test, the YDNA haplogroup will be shown and can be updated on the branch Don't forget you can always look at the YDNA chart on FTDNA and see the exact haplogroup that may be now updated from, for example, an R-M269. |
