Erastus Smith from Canada dod 1850

I am trying to discover proof of the parents of Erastus Smith. He was born in Canada around 1822. Only lived about 30 years as he went to California and died there in 1850. He had 3 or 4 children with Mary Jane Ross. His fathers name may be James but I cannot be certain and he may never have come to the US. Very uncertain who his mother was.

P.S. Came back from vacay and found that where were a raft of bots invading this site, slowing it down and, for at least one of them, I see no valid reason for them to be crawling the site. Therefore....read more.....
