Looking for DNA descendants of Smiths from Ohio, Meade and Breckinridge Co KY

Starting out by saying that if there are male Smith descendants of anyone who was, particularly in the early to mid 1800's in one of these 3 counties that would consider doing a YDNA test, it would go a long way towards proving kinship

The Smith DNA Project has a member who descends from Thomas Smith b 1769 Virginia who married Melcenia Victoria Weeks. He has done a YDNA test and matches into a group that has an origin in England.

There is a second family that matches first member on autosomal but not perfectly. That is John D Smith b 1827 Kentucky who married Mary Ann Hodges in 1853 in Ohio County Kentucky. Who are his parents?And, if you have done any type of DNA for this line, come join the Smith DNA Project at FTDNA (Official All) Could this John D Smith be the same one that is in Thomas J Smith b 1801 VA's family who married Eliza Grant? (We do have an autosomal tester for the Thomas Smith line.

If you have additional information and sources for the above, please weigh in and if you done DNA for these lines, come join. If you are on FTDNA, all you need to do is login, join project and find the Smith DNA Project-Official All and join. If you have done autosomal dna elswhere, you can do an autosomal transfer to FamilyTreeDNA and then join the project.

Being a bit more specific. To join the Smith DNA Project on FamilyTreeDNA, go login to FamilyTreeDNA with the credentials you have for FTDNA, then do a JOIN PROJECT and find the Smith DNA Project-Off....read more.....
