Israel McBee and Sorting out Smiths (also Isaac Smith of possibly Chatham Co NC)

One of the members of the Smith DNA Project at FTDNA has, on the paternal line, McBee, matches with a very large group of Smiths. the DNA Group based on YDNA matches is GRP-R-M269-16 so at least on the paternal male to male to male line, at some point McBees had an intersection with Smith. You can see this as well on the Big-Y chart on FTDNA.  the particular line is William McBee m Louisa P Smith of NC in Grainger Co TN but there is no proof that Louisa P Smith is the same Smith match with the McBee. What we would like is if there are any male McBee descendants of Israel Simth who have done YDNA or are considering it, to come join the project so we can compare. Must have a direct line from the ancestor down to the living male descendant McBee.

On Louisa P Smith. Her father is said to be Isaac (maybe with middle name of Abner?) Smith b c 1780 in NC and died in 1862 in Greene Co Illinois. Right now we have several autosomal testers starting with Louisa P. Would like to find male Smith descendants of Isaac to compare with on YDNA. For example, if Louisa P Simth and Isaac Smith are from Chatham Co NC, does a living male Smith from Isaac match any others that have tested that have an origin in Chatham Co NC/

More from one of the members with this line.

Right now, I'm doing an autosomal DNA project + regular genealogy research to cement the family of my 3rd-great grandparents, George Henry McBee & Martha Willis McBee, the couple who left TN with the whole family for Greene IL then to Decatur Co. IA & Harrison/Mercer counties MO. They had lots of children with families, so I'm in the midst of that. Lots of DNA matches have already been confirmed, and I have one confirmed through a different child of Israel (George's father) so I'm confident that I'll get there. I have many of Israel's children documented, but few of them all the way to the present. I assume that that will take me more than a year of work, unless I run into excellent trees that have done that work. Some of my McBee researchers on https://groups.io/g/McBee-Genealogy are on that line and some of them further up, and some have done some DNA work as well.
Smiths arrived by the 1830s & 40s and it seems that that is where my 2nd-ggrandfather (William, son of George) and Louisa Smith married, although I have not found their marriage in TN. Her father was Isaac Abner Smith, who was in the 1840 Grainger Co. census. He went to Greene IL also, but not until they had already moved to IA, and IL is where he died. I have not followed all of that family down to DNA matches either. Always more to research!
The info I have is that Louisa's Smiths were from Chatham, but I have as yet no proof of that. I've been concentrating on the McBees for the past couple of years. More Y testing would be *awesome*!
