1. John Hinton Smith b 1823 NC m Aramentha Ann Collins. Have a tree-only line for this, but NO DNA. Would like a YDNA male Smith tester and sutosomal testers who have a clear line of descent from John Hinton to join the project. This line was in North Carolina, Chester County TN, Marshall County MS and Prentiss County MS. 3 of their children were named James Lenard Smith b 1860 Chester Co TN, Martha Perlina Smith b 1850 Marshall Co MS and John Abram Smith b 1863, among others. 

2. Charles Everett Smith b 1876 Simpson Co MS m Florence Butler. Have seen trees in which there are two Charles E Smiths atrributed to the above John Hinton Smith m Aramantha Collins. And indeed there is a son of William Hinton Smith m Nancy J Howell of Prentiss County MS whose name is Charles Edward Smith. THIS Charles E Smith was born 22 Dec 1875 in Wheeler, Prentiss Co MS, married Josephine (Josie) Floretta Henderson  in 1900 in Prentiss Co MS and died and is buried in 1969 in Prentiss Co MS. Charles Edward Smith is on the 1910, 1920 Prentiss Co MS and 1930 Lee Co MS census. Charles Everett Smith who was algo born c 1876 but apparently in Simpson Co MS is on the 1910 and 1930 Simpson Co MS, as well as married Florence Butler in 1900 in Simpson CO MS. Two different Charles E Smiths that lived their lives in two different counties in Mississippi. The Charles Everett Smith above has not done YDNA testing, but we do have a YDNA tester for a descendant of a Smith that was in Simpson Co MS that has an ancestry from James Benjamin Smith b 1780 Robeson Co NC m Sarah Ann Rebecca Parker. Because there is no YDNa tester for John Hinton Smith, it is not possible to know what that match might be, but, again, any tree that has Charles Everett Smith of Simpson Co MS as a son of John Hinton Smith appears to be incorrect.

3. As a side note, we do have two YDNA testers for the John Austin Smith b 1780 Anson Co NC m Mary Jane Lockhart line. That matched grouping, which includes other YDNA testers that match is GRP-R-M269-88 

4. Now to add in a Henderson Co TN puzzle. As noted in #3, J A Smith who married  M J Lockhard was in Decatur and Henderson Co TN. ANd 2 of the testers are R-M269 haplogroup and match into a larger YDNA grouping. There is an unsourced tree that has John Andrew Smith b 1800 NC d 1850 Mississippi who married Elizabeth Moore. One of their children is named Martha Perlina Smith b 1839 Henderson Co TN and married William Burrow Wadley. Perhaps coincidence, but one of the children of John Hinton Smith of #1 above, is Martha Perlina Smith b 1850 Marshall Co MS who married Obadiah Boyles. On a different haplogroup E-M2, there is, in Henderson Co TN, two apparentl brothers of an unknown Smith. Those brothers are James C Smith b 1819 NC m Susan Johnson and Leonard Smith b 1819 NC m Amy B. Besides the fact that James and Leonard are next to each other in the 1850 Henderson Co TN census, before James left for Poinsett County AR, James named one of hils children Lenard. Both James and Leonard named a child William A, so don't know if that is a clue to who the father, from NC, is, but saying these appear to be brothers which can be validated with a YDNA test on a Smith descendant of Leonard.
