He and his family, including Richard, can be found in the 1850 Graceville, Houston County, GA census and his widow and children in the 1860 Dooly County GA census next door to Richard. William Smith b c 1806 GA, in turn, is son of Needham Smith d 1843 Houston County, Georgia, and Tabitha Tillman, found in 1830 Houston County, Georgia. (Note that William named two of his children Needham and also Tabitha) Possibly this Needham Smith b c 1774 d 1843 is son of William Smith b 1746 Albemarle County, VA d 1824 Washington Co GA m Mary Richards. (Would like a YDNA male Smith tester from William Smith b 1773 m Nancy Dean, also in Houston County GA as this would help cement the Smith/Richards line) 1860 Graceville, Houston GA #903:903 William Smith 44 b 1806 GA Sarah Smith b 42 Richard Smith 19 >>>>>>> Needham Smith 16 James Smith 15 Tabitha Smith 9 Mathew Smith 8 George Smith 5 Amanda Smith 6 William Smith 2 Franklin Smith 0 1860 Dooly County, Georgia, USA Millwood #229:228 R T Smith 28 Elzabeth Smith 28 Jackson IVY 25 R T Smith 4 W H Smith 2 The W H Smith on this 1860 census is William Henry Smith m 1 Catherine V Pritchett. His death certificate says parents are Richard Smith and Elizabeth Johnson. |
