I just joind this site. Seems there was a connection in some way that drew my attention here. My links via documentation take me back to George Smith (Abt 1785) marrying Ally Martin (Abt 1785) sometime in 1812. Those are the parents that I believe to be for William Thomas Smith (B:1809/D:1869) for who I have a trail down to me a few generations below.
I have taken the BigY at FTDNA to help find my parental male line (O'Shea); but as I see that I have a Smith on my mother's side up the path; should I join the SMITH group also? Even though my name isn't a Smith and my BigY shows that I am of Irish descent?
Was just doing some follow up on FTDNA; and happened to notice the kind folks here; have already put me into the DNA portion. :-) That was interesting, posted, yet I was already a part of it. Funny how life works.
