Two Perry Smiths about the same age,one found in Greenville County, South Carolina, the other in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. Cannot be the same person due to conflicts in marriages, children and census records.

#1 Perry E Smith b c 1852 SC m 1 Margaret Walker 2 Lillie A Carman. Parents are Wyatt Hawkins Smith and Martha Emily Erwin. 1850 Wyatt Hawkins Smith in Greenville County SC census. 1860 and 1870 Perry E Smith found in census with parents. in 1880 Perry in own household in Butler, Greenville County, South Carolina with wife Margaret J, then in 1900 in Beech Springs, Spartanburg County, South Carolina, 1910 in Chick Springs Greenville County South Carolina, and 1920 Greenville, Greenville County, South Carolina. Very consistent paper trail. There has been no YDNA or autosomal testers for anyone in this line. If you are a male Smith of this line, please consider doing a YDNA test.

#2 Perry L Smith was born 1 Feb 1856 in Reidville, Spartanburg County, SC and died 11 Mar 1918 Spartanburg County, South Carolina. Married, 1st, Eliza Ann Lucey Campbell and second Ida (?) . He is found on the 1880 Beech Springs, Spartanburg County, SC with wife Eliza A and son Cofer G, then on 1900 Reidville, Spartanburg County, SC with wife Ida, Jesse Smith and Ollie (Oliver Parris) Smith and finally in 1910 Beech Springs, Spartanburg County, SC with wife Ida.

Perry L Smith has several DNA testers and matches into the group that claims Guilelmus Smith as an ancestor. Doesn't have to mean that Guilelmus is THE common ancestor. Unknown at this point what the YDNA line for Perry E Smith would be.

If anyone has specific information about who the parents are for Perry L Smith, please post with sources.
