Emmaline Sayre Smith

Emmaline "Ann" Sayre was born about 1822 in Jackson County. She married in that county James Smith who was born 23 February 1823 in Mason County to Joseph and Elizabeth Greenlee (Van Bibber) Smith. Joseph Smith died when James was less than a year old and James got to live with his grandfather, Jesse Van Bibber, who had married Rachel, daughter of Edward and Anna (Henry) Greenlee. James became a carpenter and stone mason, trades which he followed most of his life. His first marriage to Ann Sayre was performed by Phillip Hall 18 November 1841. Her exact birth and death dates were not found, and different opinions were found on her place of death. James Smith married 2nd, in 1871 Elizabeth S Armistead, a daughter of Thomas J Armistead. He died 14 January 1903 in Moran, Allen, Kansas.
