Pendleton Dist SC m. 4 March 1784 in Guilford Co NC to Jane Reeder (deposition made by Wm Hubbard for his sister Susannah Hammond 13 Jan 1847 Pickens Dist SC)

      SUSANNAH HUBBARD PRATER m. 2nd WILLIAM HAMMON--
      Susannah Hammond owned 101 acres on waters of 18 Mile Creek joining lands of John McWhorter, Samuel Maverick and others. Heirs: Thomas Prater, Phillip Prater, Aaron Prater, Josiah Prater, Joseph Prater, The heirs of John Prater and heirs of Sally Wallace and the heirs of Polly Hubbard all the heirs absent from the state except Jeremiah Prater. Dated 6 Oct 1851. Pickens Co SC Deed Bk A pg 137

      Susannah Hubbard b. 1757 d. 9 Aug 1848 Pickens District SC m. Phillip Prater who died Sept 1798 Pendleton District SC. She m. 2nd William Hammond.


      Deposition of Susannah Hammond--widow of Phillip Prater--in order to obtain the benefits of Rev. War under act July 1836.

      District of Pickens on 3 Nov 1846 came Susannah Hammond aged about 89 years, that she was married to Phillip Prater who was a Pvt in the Militia of SC during the war of the Rev. she suffered much during this time with her three little children dodging the British. They lived in Laurens District SC then to Pickens District where she now lives. She married Phillip Prater on Haw River in Guilford Co NC about the year 1775 or 1776 and they moved to SC where the said Phillip Prater died in the year 1797. That she afterwards married to William Hammond who lived with her but about two years and left her and is as she understands lone since died tho she does not know the date of his death. That she was a widow on the 4 July 1836 and still remains a widow. She had two children by Wm Hammond then he left her. She married Wm Hammond 3 or 4 years after Prater died. Wm Hammond died 5 or 6 years from the time he married her. Sg: Susannah Hammond X.

      Affidavit made by William Hubbard who was her brother , she being two or three years older than him, that she married very young aged 13 or 14. They had two children in Guilford NC before they moved to SC. His widow Susannah married after Phillip died not more than three or fours years to William Hammond and had two children then left her and Wm Hammond died a few years later. She was a widow on the 4 July 1836 and still remains a widow. She married Wm Hammond 3 or 4 years after Prater died. Wm Hammond died 5 or 6 years from the time he married her. Pickens Co SC Estates

      6 Oct 1841--Susannah Hammond late of Pickens District owned land on waters of 18 Mile Creek adj. lands of John McWhorter, Samuel Maverick and others containing 101 acres. The following are heirs of said dec'd:
      Thomas Prater, Philip Prater, Aaron Prater, Josiah Prater, Joseph Prater (myself), Jeremiah Prater, heirs of John Prater and of Sally Wallace, heirs of Polly Hubbard. All the heirs are absent form the state except myself.
