      Phillip moved from Frederick Co MD to Guilford Co NC after he sold his land in MD to Joseph Bench 4 Sept 1756. He was in Orange Co NC by 1761 and 1765.

      25 March 1740 Philip Prather of Prince George Co MD, planter, and Richard Duckett of ye County said Philip Prather for the sum of sixty pounds sterling paid by Richard Duckett sold part of a tract of land called "Sprigg's Request" in Prince George Co being also part of Collington Manor and that part of ye said Sprigg's Request which was laid out by John Hunt for ye said Sprigg's Request to ye division between ye three brothers viz: Thomas Prather, John Smith Prather and the said Philip Prather. Wit: John Beall and Thomas Gantt Jr. Prince George Co MD Liber y, ff.141-142.

      Phillip was in Orange Co NC by 1761 and 1765.

      Will of Phillip Prater 5 Feb 1796 prov 17 Sept 1798 Pendleton District, SC Weak in body but sound in judgement etc. To my son John a piece or parcel of land estimated at the Hundred acres on the branch a joining Johnsons land and my rifel gun--to my son Thomas a mare and sadle to my son Phillip a colt and Sadle, to my daughter Sally one dollar. I bequeath to my daughter Polly a horse and sadle and two cows and calves. To my son William a colt and sadle. To my wife Susannah one hundred acres of land where I now live during her life and the remainder of the land the children is to have equally when my youngest child is at maturity and if they cannot devide it peacably it is to be sold and the price equally divided. I leave all the Goods and Chattles to my wife and little children after she had paid all my just debts or demands and I appoint my wife Susannah and my son John and William Hubbard my Exors.       Pendleton District South Carolina--We Jeremiah Prather, Isaiah Prather, Aaron Prather, Joseph Prather, John Prather, James Wallace of the state and district aforesaid for forty dollars to Isaiah Kirksey of aforesaid state and district part of a tract of land granted to Philip Prather deceased adj. lands of Thomas Lively granted to John Robertson of Charleston containing forty acres situated on the north side of Twelve Mile River. Dated 4 January 1828 sg: Josiah Prather, Jeremiah Prather. James Wallace X, Aaron Prater, Joseph Prater and John Prater. Wit: Stephen Clayton and Thomas Lively X.
