    In the name of God Amen, I Richard Smith of the County of Brunswick and
    State of Virginia being sick and weak but in perfect sence (sic) & memory
    thanks be to God for the Same. But considering the frailty make appoint
    and Ordain this and none other to be my last Will and Testament in memory
    (manner) and form as followeth Viz; ~

    First and above all I commend my Soul into the hands of almighty God that
    gave it first to me trusting in the merits of my Blessed Saviour Jesus
    Christ for a full & free pardon of all my sins committed in this frail and
    unliked life and my body to have a neat & decent Christian Burial at the
    discretion of my Loving Wife and Dear children and as touching what worldly
    Estate wherewith almighty God hath blessed me with after my Just debts are
    paid I give and bequeath as followeth Viz; ~

    Item I give to my beloved wife Jane Smith one Horse side Saddle & Bridle
    one Feather Bed one Cow & Earlin (Yearling) to her and her heirs forever
    also my Land & Plantation whereon I now live during her mortel (sic) life
    after her decease my Will and desire is that my Land may be divided as
    followeth (Viz) ~

    Item I give to my son Clem Smith the plantation whereon I now live after
    the decease of his mother containing of two hundred Acres also it my desire
    that my son Rich d Smith should have Fifty Acres taken off of the sade
    (sic) Tract the Place whereon Ely Smith lived. Also it is my desire desire
    that my son John Smith should have all the Woodlin (sic) Land lying between
    Thomas Williams & my pasture fence and cornfield fence belonging to the
    Tract above mentioned. Also it is my desire that there should be timber
    taken off of the said land to put the pasture and cornfield joining the
    said Woodlin Land under a good fence. I give the same to them and their
    heirs forever.

    Itim (sic) I give to my son Clem Smith the Cattle formly (sic)
    called his containing Eight head to him and his heirs I give the same forever ~

    Item My will and desire is that there be money raised out of my stock of
    Cattle that I have not yet mentioned if my Tobacco will not pay my Just
    debts & after my Just debts is paid my desire is that the Cattle that
    remains may be divided between my sons John Smith and Rich d S. Smith
    equally I give the same to them and there (sic) heirs forever ~

    Itim My Will and desire is that my House hold furniture be equally
    divided between my three sons, Clem Smith, Rich d Senter Smith, John Smith,
    I give the same to them and there heirs forever ~

    Itim I give to my son Ely Smith twenty shillings forever.

    Itim I give to my daughter Patsey a Mason twenty shillings forever.

    Itim I give to my loving wife my Stock of Hogs, I give the same to her
    and her heirs forever .

    Itim My will and desire is that my Stock of Sheep may divided equally
    divided between my three sons Clem Smith, John Smith, Richard Smith, I give
    the same them and there heirs forever.

    Itim I do appoint Ely Smith & Clem Smith my sons Executors to this my
    last Will & Testament this twenty seventh day of December one thousand
    seven hundred and ninety-Eight.
